>> However, they also want the Bush tax cuts to finally elapsed. The Right is working diligently to protect the rich. And the American public is furious.

They want lots of things if they don't understand the implications of it. If they understand that increasing taxes will deter economic recovery, then they may not want to undo the Obama tax cuts [remember, they became the Obama cuts last December].

Look, there is a legitimate difference of opinion as to what is the best way to reduce deficits. The Left believes you do that by increasing taxes and regulation. The Right believes you do that by growing the economy. Historically, the view of the Right has been accurate: When you cut taxes as Clinton did in the mid-90s, you get an economic surge over what might have been. The same was true with JFK, with Reagan, and with GWB.

It is easy to look at the last year or two of GWB's presidency, after the Democrats killed the housing market, and say, "Look what those tax cuts did". But there is no nexus; you can't expect tax cuts to solve ALL problems. We had reasonable economic growth from '07 through '07 as a result of the tax cuts (in what should have been far more difficult economic circumstances). Only after the D-inspired housing crisis did growth collapse.
