Jimi Heselden, 62, is thought to have reversed, wobbled and then plunged 42ft to a riverbank below as he attempted to make room for the passer-by. An inquest heard that he was trying out an off-road version of the personal transporter when the simple "act of courtesy" cost him his life. David Hinchliff, West Yorkshire Coroner, said it was "typical of the type of man he was" that he held back and made room for the dog walker. "In so doing, he's attempted to reverse the Segway back.
