How is owner occupied housing comparable to an investment in the business sector to begin with? A better comparison would be investment RE versus other businesses. Also larger homes create a spillover effect to many related businesses.. Key is can you really afford the payments on a fixed rate amortizing loan.. Why do GOP hacks conveniently forget the only time we really pushed housing as a driver for the economy was the ownership society whose goal was the 2004 elections and the net result was an explosion in property values and new construction from 2002-06.....
