I got a traffic stop 2 weeks ago. Reg. sticker was not on the plate. The guy ask if I have a gun in the car after I tell him I"m doing a job in the area. I say yes and he about shits himself. He grabs his service weapon, still holstered, and screams, "why didn't you tell me yo had a gun when I asked for ID. I said, "you didn't ask about a gun"....he tries to yank the door open all the time his hand on his gun and I'm telling him to stand down......his response is that "this is for my protection"....

I've asked several LEO friends about proper protocol when interacting with the police while carrying. The overall sentiment is don't say anything about it unless they ask first. I could see a situation where you give the cop your license and say, "Oh, by the way, I'm carrying a handgun." To a number of cops, that statement could be viewed as a threat.

Of course, you and I live in very different environments.
