People have 10 fingers [including thumbs] so reset of 10:1 is the rational way to reset. It leaves some hope for the creditors and a fig leaf of honesty for the dead beats, while retaining the basic system and transfers wealth from those who don't know what is going on to those who do. Half of that reset has already been done via the usual pixelation processes. With US$ at 85c per NZ$, it has halved in value in a few years. That's quite a move in buying and selling. Measured in gold and oil, the discount in US$ has been much greater.

Since there isn't going to be a gold culture, we don't need to aim for huge production. Electrical conductivity and a gradually reducing number of wedding rings can be provided from the older kind of mines:< 300-400 per oz cash cost is of the old / established mines at the higher gradings

800 is representative

2000+ is needed for new / big mines, and that is why there are not any big new mines

$800 is for IPO profits. "Buy shares here. Don't miss out. Save yourself from the US$, euro, kiwi$, yen, yuan black hole event horizons. Get Gold in Ground."

$2000+ is for IPO gold mania but no actual excavations or filtering from the ocean. Those ones will be for transferring money from the desperate and gullible to the normal purveyors of profit.

$2000 will be good for converting lead and mercury into gold, or platinum, via sneaky proton manoeuvres with my [soon to be] patented hydrogen ion saturation probability process.

Should things deteriorate as far as Zimbabwe, inside the black hole, all bets are off.
