The importance of economies of scale and thermodynamic efficiency are dwindling.

You are right on, counterprogramming is underway, precious few of the outcomes are envisioned, as the goal for continuation of present circumstances, is a form of momentum of self interest, wearing designer blinders with too big to fail ideas, .demand shifts, subtly, pervasively, within terms set by the variable time shapes of capital.

With Cyberspace income, people can live anywhere and click to order food delivered by courier and get everything else done too.

Over simplification... without the economies of scale that is not possible.. unless you plan on eating pixelated beef and carrots... transport and production remain critical.. personal transport of course will I agree, become less important to insignificant... as we increasingly rely on pixelated vicarious experiences of life... we go willingly into the Matrix.. hopefully we will have a suitably extensive library of experiences to ensure life is not boring :O)
