Day 3: it is really quiet here. Walked the olive groves on the 4-hectares property with my mom as the kids gotten taken to some spring for swim and eventually to the market to scavenge for provisions.

The housekeeper / cook prepped enough food to last out this day. She shall return full-time tomorrow. I would guess she is about 30, 35 tops. She used to be a secretary working at some commercial enterprise, lost her job about three years ago, and now makes do looking after the property, sings pop songs at night, and earns an okay living because she takes in cash and so still qualifies for all the social benefits n transfer payments from the French state.

Spoke to the driver who took us to the car rental agency yesterday. Drove through a few little towns. Where are the people?

The driver said:
- ds kahn would have won the presidential election had he been not involved in the 4-seasons setup
- many he knows including himself thought from the get-go that he was dsk was setup
- dsk is through politically
- income tax rate is 50%

I have been watching gold, silver, and platinum as I had taken in a rather large position in each before leaving hong kong.

I intend to trade the paper metals, but am in no particular hurry to take profit. I might go with or even add to the positions, with exit next march-april.

On platinum, I note labor strikes are breaking out in south african gold and coal industries, and with intensification, would hammer the platinum mines by way of electricity shortage, and by way of industrial actions.

I suppose it would be enterprisingly astute of the mine owners to encourage a strike, to raise pricing on platinum, and to discover true labour cost. A necessary win win.

On silver n gold, the trend is our friend, and the trend is up. A 2k gold would not really surprise me, even though it would be pleasant.

It feels weird to slouch in countryside amidst singing cicadas, eat n sleep n read, while being rewarded by ramping gold, galloping silver, and can look forward to repeatedly rewarding platinum to reward again. Would feel wicked if not so righteously deserving.
