Hello, Is anyone paying attention?

WSTL just announces the GTE, a 22 BILLION dollar revenue company has chosen WSTL to be the ADSL partner and noone seems to really care.

This is the biggest ADSL relationship to date for anybody. GTE will roll this out nationally as they SLOWLY canibalize their own T-1 biz.

Am I missing something? Please paint me a bad picture accept that this is just the beginning.

Eliot

<I be astounded if they couldn't find a loading coil in a line using a TDR.>

I was unaware of the technology before you mentioned it, but found several TDR links including:

microtest.com

I'll find out. I DO know after speaking with Fluke engineers about their DSL tester (which is simply an ethernet bridge - still requires ADSL modems at both ends) that THEY were unable to pinpoint any copper problems that their test indicated existed. I also conferenced Fluke into a telco engineer, and the TDR topic never arose. Wonder why?
