some industries really do need a bunch of cash to weather recessions, car companies for example. All you have to do is insure that idle cash will get eaten away by idle investment returns minus taxes and the bean counters will go nuts.

That was the one thing nice about high inflation years ago, nobody sat on cash. We could really use a dose of inflation right now.
