The "managed economy" concept is now dead. It should have been dead years ago. The thinking economists now fully understand why you can't create demand where none exists through government spending. It took a huge empirical failure like the Obama stimulus to prove it to the young disbelievers. But it is proven beyond any doubt now. Churchill likened it to standing in a bucket and trying to lift the bucket by the handle. And that is a truly apt description.
