the suspect was apprehended 45 minutes after that, surrendering when approached by armed officers. That's an interesting detail - it shows that he was prepared to murder, but not prepared to fight and to die. Why should he? At most, he can get 21 years of civilized comfy incarceration, and then he'll be a free man. Maybe he'll even become a hero to some nut cases.
