I'm surprised no one was able to swim this. It's less than 2000 feet.

Below is a yahoo answers question.

How long might it take an average swimmer to swim 1/2 mile (750 yards)?
I am training for a triathlon and I am curious how long itmight take me to swim 1/2 mile. I am not a very good swimmer, just below average.

I've completed 3 sprint triathlons (all pool swims) and consider myself a below average swimmer.

I average about 2 minutes 20 seconds per 100m in training, but in races it has fluctuated in the races due to differing factors such adrenaline, excitement and fatigue

It will all depend on whether it is a pool swim with ends you can kick off or open water with currents, drift and many swimmers around you (plus the benefit of your wetsuit)

It might be a good idea to check the online results of the races you are thinking of entering to see the times of previous years

Somewhere between 15 and 20 minutes should put you in the pack

Good luck with your training and your races
