Michael - Re: " Yet another report of Pentium II Price Cuts"

If you put together all these stories on Intel cutting prices on the Pentium II, it comes out that Intel cuts the price once a day on odd number days and cuts the Pentium II price TWICE per day on even number days.

By Christmas, Intel will be paying their customers $476/each to take the Pentium II devices off their (Intel's) hands.

I particlulary LOVED Drew Peck's comment that he has turned NEUTRAL on Intel. That means he has come up seventeen grades! He hasn't said a decent word about Intel in at least 18 months!

He sure is silent about AMD - last I heard he was predicting $90/share for AMD right in line with Edelstone and Erika Klauer and only a little above Gumport ($55 - now reduced to $35).

>I would say AMD is in a very tenuous situation. Intel is playing serious hardball.

If CPQ uses AMD, INTC cuts prices, Dell, HP, Micron, etc., buy mass quantities of INTC chips at cut prices, puts "Intel Inside" units on the shelves next to CPQ and <= $, CPQ is in trouble too. There is very little box brand loyalty, but "Intel Inside" is significant. I would say the Intel is out to "crush the competition", once and or all. (I LIKE IT!)
