Yes, and most of our great teachers from Thomas Mann to Mark Twain to Einstein grew bitter with age as they watched the ignorant prosper, while those who pursued self actualization and a humanitarian world, were crushed and swept aside to the shadows of life. I cut my teeth on Plato's Republic and especially The Allegory of the Cave". We are the pople in the cave seeing reality as only shadows on the cave wall. One man wanders outside and sees green grass, blue skys and singing birds and runs back in to tell the people this wonderful world he has discovered. They kill him.
