I wouldn't be too smug. Life in Marseille is so kind, it's almost incomprehensible to a jaded Czech/American like me. In the two weeks we've been here this time around, I have not seen one sullen face, or witnessed a single adversarial interaction. I don't speak French but that does not seem to matter. People light up when I try, help me any way they can. Not to mention the food, the sea, the fresh air, the art on every corner. This place is an oasis of life as it should be lived. Fully. I'm pretty sure the people who live here are well aware of this, protect it, build upon it, enjoy it. C'est la vie! And yes, I am crying now because we have to leave tomorrow. I'll miss this place so much, until we return, I cannot tell you!
