The problem with a questionnaire is they could be coached on the name of the candidate, then they could simply lie on the other questions... the only proof of competency is if they paid taxes... even if they got a refund, they can vote because they did pay into the system, but without any skin in the game, they have no business playing the game in the first place...

Another federal monstrosity is slowly dismantled...

Nearly 3,700 post offices slated to close

money.cnn.com

excerpt:

"The Postal Service of the future will be smaller, leaner and more competitive and it will continue to drive commerce, serve communities and deliver value," Donahoe said.

Donahoe said that this and other moves, such as a proposal under consideration to reduce service to five days a week, are necessary to close a $20 billion gap in revenue by 2015.

No surprise here. Third-world countries don't have space travel or postal services.

Another formerly-great U.S. institution, joins NASA and bites the dust as the relentless decline of the U.S. toward the third-world stratum continues.

But only 3700 closures? Shouldn't the number be much larger?

The U.S. postal service has devolved into a colossal waste of taxpayer's money and it's becoming worse. With the advent of email and the ability to pay bills online, the U.S. postal service only delivers junk mail to my home now and I damn sure don't want my taxes augmenting that enterprise! -ng-
