It would require a 5 percent annual improvement rate for cars between 2017 and 2025. IMHO Obamas major accomplishment. Nobody had raised CAFE standards in like 25 years.

Many feel we may already be past the tipping point for global warming. The arctic sea ice melt is melting faster than most of the global warming models. My son in law was very surprised by the extent of the 2007 melt and this year is looking to surpass 2007. But truth be told, by 2025 we will be in a whole new world of technology and attendant dangers. Anyone who thinks they can plan 15 years going forward is fooling themselves. The big problems we really have are the ones today. And the brain dead Tea party may send us all to hell. We need to quit being the stupid country. The best thing we could do right now is give free education to everyone from 2.5 years through a phd, but I know that idea is another left wing radial idea. Oh, and have obama hire a ton of left wing radicals like robert Reich and Bill Moyers and Paul Krugman to advise him. And get rid of his Republician advisers like GE's Inmelt who is in charge of job creation just as GE moves billions to china, Daley and Gene Sperling!
