<Chinese sold us their crap goods, and we sold them our crap mortgages>

That reminded me of:

"We pretend to work; they pretend to pay us"- Soviet proverb

Appropriate, since the U.S. now has a housing industry just like the Soviets:
the government owns everything,
the rules are so byzantine nobody understands them,
the elite writes the rules (and rewrites whenever it suits them) so they never lose.
Everyone knows the current system is unfair and unsustainable,
and nobody has any hope of changing it.

Are you in favor of Elizabeth Warren as head of the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau? You sound like her when describing the horrors unsophisticated financial consumers face.

but difference is Chinese goods are improving... have to wonder if America's dealers in crap will just look for another source ... Hard for me to buy the crap goods from China argument ... folks could always exercise free will and boycott Made in China... something larger than China is amiss here...
