With transmission losses and the losses in pumping and regenerating the electricity you are talking about something ludicrously inefficient.

As I've said I am no missionary. Watch and wonder how the power creation mix will change. I'll try to be around in a decade, hope you'll be, too, then we can have another look.

Pumping water up to mountain lakes and later generating electricity by releasing the water loses only about 10%. Its done primarily in countries with mountains and functioning governments.
