The Fix,

<<Eric Charters has hinted in his daily letter that the Japanese gov't. might back this current currency crisis with Gold. Yes Gold Folks. >>

Does he detail his rationale/sources - also, is there a URL for his letter.

Also - I believe there have been some very secretive meetings between Japan and Russia of late - lots of gold in Russia <g>. I believe there is the matter of some island (name escapes me now) that Russia wants back from Japan.

It is clear that currencies in countries that have moved away from gold have suffered (Canada, OZ are two examples) - that is why the US will never give up its gold. Their currency is king right now - and they will not do anything to damage that perception - it would be far too dear for them at the present time to have their currency perceived as weakening in any way .... somebody has to hold all their debt.
