I just have to share this story.

One of the motorcycle people I know, Pat Sills, quit his job 4 years ago and went back to school. He got into the University of Washington in an electrical engineering program. 1) UW ain't easy to get into 2) EE ain't an easy major. Not sure on his age, but he's probably 40-45 now. Well... he just graduated in June.

I saw him this past weekend at the Wenatchee Motorcyle Roundup and he told me he was waiting to hear about a job he really wanted - with the US Navy at Bremerton. Nuclear Controls & Instrumentation Engineer. I wished him luck and told him I was pulling for him. Well, today he got the word. He got the job!

It is so good to see someone who set his sights on something, went out and got the education to achieve it and then got the job. I'm so happy for Pat. This is a great country are willing to we live in and it rewards those who are willing to work hard and pursue a goal.

This was his post on the forum:

Got the call I was waiting for today - they're going to hire me at the Bremerton Naval Shipyard! I'll be a Nuclear Controls & Instrumentation Engineer. Of course, it's the US government, so there will be several weeks of paperwork, but the head HR guy said the position is mine! First, I would like to thank those who said a prayer and/or sent good karma my way. Second, to those who I was discussing finding a job at 'our age' with at the Roundup, there's hope! Damn, I didn't think I would be this excited to go back to work when I quit in '07 to attend college.

The "New" SI and iPad/iPhone

I am liking the new SI interface and editing tools. However, I've noticed one thing. Before the switchover, I could reply to threads using my iPhone or my wife's iPad. That functionality has disappeared.

I think this is something In need to bring up to Brad.
