If he had the power to do that he would effectively be a dictator. There would be no reason for Congress to even come into Washington DC.” “Clearly that’s unconstitutional,” she concluded. “If it happened there would be a call for the president’s impeachment within seconds.” Of course, raising the debt ceiling isn’t technically a spending or taxation decision, but Obama has said that his lawyers don’t believe invoking the 14th Amendment is a “winning argument.” (At the Daily Intel blog, Dan Amira writes that Bachmann's argument is way off.)
