Giants were my pick to win NL West. Beltran will definitely help just by being in the line up making it more difficult for opposing pitchers to pitch around the line up. Still, I don't think they will be able to beat the Phillies and and their four aces. It will probably go down to the seventh game watching Beltran take a third strike to end the game.

As for the Mets, they are not getting any immediate help. I hope Duda can step up and keep going. Mets fortunes will depend on Santana getting back to form, David Wright continue hot streak, and Reyes winning MVP - leaving a lot of Mets money on the table as he goes free agent. Mets can use that money to get a number 2 pitcher and bull pen help. Tejada is not ready to step into Reyes shoes but that's a problem for next year. Maybe Einhorn can step in with some cash.

As for this year, I would like to see Mets play spoiler and help knock off Atlanta for wild card. Mets do not have much chance of winning the wild card, but they could make September fun to watch as we wait til the year after the next, maybe GGG.
