We had this conversation before. It really depends on what you're spending on.

FDR's New Deal didn't do jack to lift the economy out of the Great Depression. Only WWII did, and only because the entire country was building up toward victory.

Reagan ran up the deficit like crazy (at the time), but he won the Cold War and set the stage for the Clinton economic boom.

Obama wants the equivalent of New Deal II. If you want to follow "historical evidence," we're going to be in this Great Recession all the way until WWIII.

Inode already proved that most of federal spending is toward entitlements. You know, FDR New Deal-like stuff. The kind that never works other than to cement big government's role in weighing down the economy.

Yet you think that we need more. 1937 all over again, but this time, let's just boost deficit spending. See how that works. You know, like Krugman and other left-wing hacks want. You're no different.
