It is supposedly insurance, which isn't mentioned very often, rather than an entitlement. You don't hear much about this, but we will. I said over 20 years ago that we would see a return to calling it insurance, because what they are going to do is decide who "needs" SS payments and the threshold can be set very very very low and allow only those with NO other sources of income with SS payments. They will say that everybody else, don't need it, no matter what they paid-in in "premiums". Also the Govt doesn't back the program. Taxpayers and workers are forced literally with threat of prison, if they don't pay into it. Real American huh? If SS was such a successful program, people would willingly pay-in. They used to. Not anymore because they know it's a loser. Now they have to force you to pay in, with threat of prison.
