It just isn't about that, Ten.

The ideological struggle is not about afford/not afford. It is about ever-expanding government, at any cost. Do you honestly think Al, Chris & Ted CARE whether we can afford the spending? Their interests have to do with making government bigger and more powerful and more intrusive into our lives.

My priorities are similar but not exactly the same...I would like to see reform to social programs (means testing, eligibility change, expanded contribution pool), gradual but significant reductions in defense spending, end the wars (for sure), tax reform to simplify and make fairer, focus on education and improvements to the country's infrastructure, cost controls in the budget.
