The strangest thing and the paradox and irony of the entire issue is that apparently there is no need - and no one is proposing - to cut even a single dime. Simply a moderate decrease in the projected INCREASES may balance the budget in a few years.

The degree of demagoguery out there is disturbing.

Boehner needs to translate the language of the debate into what it really is. If he would simply explain that the fight is about whether to grow the government at 5% a year or at, say, 3.5% - people would understand. Instead he keeps talking about the "cuts" as if they were real. He who controls the language is likely to win the debate.

I don't think you could find a person in gov't (besides a TEA partier) that thinks we could cut enough fat and waste and programs to allow us to get by without borrowing.....

As I watch the current farce play out in DC, I've become increasingly convinced that it's going to take an inevitable and severe crash in order for fundamental change to take place in this country. IMO, there's going to be hell to pay in the not too distant future.

When the parasites outnumber the hosts, when the takers outnumber the makers, when the Constitution is trashed and ignored, and mob rule by the current "gang du jour" is unrestrained, then an economic and social train wreck becomes not a matter of if, but when.

I hope I'm wrong, but I don't see any realistic alternative. Too many people are just too ignorant, or just don't care.. Yet, anyway....
