we could even make them federal jobs, give cola increases and paid benefits without any contribution to them.

perhaps we could add a chair for them to sit on and we could continue to pump our own gas.

Lastly, we need to hire more to pump gas, a helper to wash windows.

There are states with common borders in which in one gas is pumped (by law) by an attendant and yet the gas is less expensive than the bordering state in which you pump your own gas. The difference is State Gasoline taxes.

Get rid of ATMs while you're at it.

Full employment for bank tellers!!!

"I have the idea - no more self service gasoline. That would employ thousands - and by raising prices - unemploy thousands as well. How about we send Obama and team on a sabbatical!"

That's a bad idea that nearly wiped out me and my family in the 1970s. We stopped for gas early in the morning. Oregon insists on paying people to do what you could do yourself, so I just pulled up, handed him the money, and he pumped the gas, gave me my change and I drove off. My wife said "Fire!" I could see fire coming out of the gas island, so I drove off a safe distance and stopped. I looked at my gas tank filler port and saw the pump nozzle still in it. The fire department was already there and put the fire out at the pump, which was laying on the ground. I got my gas cap back and drove out of there as fast as I could.
