We will get a resolution to the debt ceiling, but it will be meaningless. Neither plan being considered or altered does anything to actually cut real spending and the deficit. We have reached a tipping point where the majority of Americans pay no Federal income tax and many even get more than what is deducted in "earned income credit". The Dems always promise more to these people who give so little or nothing.

Until this country gets away from the unfair federal income tax burdens and applies a Value Added Tax and abolishes the present Income Tax system we will continue down the dark road to oblivion. A value Added Tax would give everyone a dog in the fight. That is how America can survive. In the present system those who give not will always demand more and Dems will pander to their vote by offering more. It won't be long before the parasites have killed the host. Then what is left? Just chaos...dictators...etc etc

A Value Added Tax will get the unrealized tax from criminal activity, present tax cheats, working off the grid, wealthy who have plenty but no longer pay into the system. Even welfare people will be paying income tax through VAT. The "Food Stamp" program is nothing but another system for abuse. Get rid of it. There would be no VAT on food, low cost clothing, fuels, medical etc.

Until then we all just argue about stop gaps and apply bandaids to sucking chest wounds.
