this article doesnt mention the proportion of the cost of cotton relative to retail cost of the final product which was my point: the article below notes that for a t shirt the component cost is about 10% my guess is for designer goods its far less. In the past month I purchased a long sleeve shirt from a nautica outlet store for about $14 I think, so for me I havent seen much of a price increase because i just buy stuff that has been sharply discounted. soon i will be buying sharply discounted shorts as stores try to get rid of their seasonal merchandise.

Speaking of cheap the best performer in my portfolio this year has been melco intl, which I still think is a good way of buying into mpel at a discount. I think it needs to go about another 25% or so for me to break even on it after about 4 years. Sorry now that I didnt average down more on that one, but I decided i had enough chinese stocks in the portfolio and they have all underperformed to date.
