Gary-- The building boom exists today. New home are going up at the rate of 1.4 million/yr. This is quite healthy. If the numbers get any better it will be very small. This is about the best boom we will ever see.

You are certainly right. The Kennecott copper mine in Salt Lake Valley, Utah, mines about 900,000 ounces of gold per year, as a by-product of the copper production. The gold essentially pays the mining costs. Alta's problem is the opposition from Ted Turner and Jane (Praise the North Vietnamese) Fonda, who own the ranch next to the Copper Flat mine site.
