I have from day one been confident that this business about the debt limit was just another Washington aggravation for investors that would eventually be resolved. but the downgrading of u.s. debt seems more likely than not, and I dont know that we will see another balanced budget in our lifetime. I had a conversation today with a friend who is a real estate broker in the area. and he told me that this time of year when he gets what he considers a very desirable listing like a condo on a golf course, he usually has a fair number of people coming to look. that has not happened this year. he also noted that a place that he goes occasionally for sunday brunch where he usually has to wait in line had plenty of empty tables today. This could be yet another impact of Washington on Main Street. While a friend's grandson just got a job after months of looking, it was not with corporation but a college. I dont think the economy is very good domestically and I dont think we can stop printing money, unless we dismantle our military and that will make our unemployment rise even more.

AAB.TO AABVF,

I estimate core portfolio value (top publicly traded holdings) is down 7% in CAD from last pricing, although I expect them to add value over and above the performance of their core portfolio holdings. SUE.TO is down 10%, FMC.TO is up 8%, BSX.V is down 18%, etc.

I am holding a good sized position here and looking for a better buy point (i.e. bigger discount) to accumulate more.
