Spending as a % should be reduced, but it must be done intelligently. We are finding many savings in our state without cutting any services. I agree .... do you see any evidence of that in the conservative argument today? Our government was being charged much more than market rates and now that it is open to more bidding freedom, we are learning how much more was being spent. Yes, but don't fall for that populist cynical trap...any enterprise as large and complex as our country will inevitably have fraud and inefficiencies...if you've worked, as I have, for a fortune 500 company you are likely to have been exposed to a microcosm of the same phenomenon. We must always be focused on reducing and fixing these problems without losing sight of the bigger picture or turning it into a cynical obsession that threatens to rot the core of the nation and its people. Listen to rush limbaugh for a spell if you want a good example of this nasty cancer. Al
