Well, I agree -- it probably isn't even close -- anytime they project anything that far out the numbers get bad, and it seems they always underestimate it. I think last year's trustee's report showed 60.

Importantly, for the first time there was a dissent -- by the chief actuary for CMS. His words:

“(T)he financial projections shown in this report for Medicare do not represent a reasonable expectation for actual program operations in either the short range. . . or the long range. . . . I encourage readers to review the ‘illustrative alternative’ projections that are based on more sustainable assumptions for physician and other Medicare price updates.”

So, apparently even the most knowledgeable people on the planet about this subject agree with you.
