Now a reasonable person would extract from what I wrote that it is probably incorrect to say that a program with 75 year projected expenditures of 9.9T would require 15T TODAY...not you...you stick to your guns and come back to tell me that the the figure you cited was incorrect and pulled from a 2008 report...and you get your pompous dander up and start calling me names. inode: No, I admitted I pulled the figure from an earlier year. As you may know, these figures change every year. In 2008, for example, the Part D unfunded liability was HIGHER than the figure I cited ($17 Trillion). I don't recall which year I cited, but I think it came from one year's report. It doesn't matter. But that's BS too because the 2008 trustee report said the same thing...that is that the 75 expenditure would be in the range of 10T (vs 9.9 in 2011).... The point is less the fact that you are a serial exaggerator...but that Part D did create an unfunded liability, though I am quite sure a much smaller one that your 15T....the second point is that this liability was created by REPUBLICANS who loathe social programs and are now trying to dismantle medicare...that boggles the mind.
