I concur with the debt situation. But where you and I differ is that whether this is the right time to make that an issue and start to "pull the cord" on the fragile economy. Our past Presidents have gone ahead and along with their Congresses have increased the ceiling several times. And the "Clinton prosperity" that we often times talk about would not have been possible without the raising of the ceiling under Reagan and Bush Sr. We even fought a war on a credit card under Jr. And we know well that we cannot influence a war's outcome to t he level we can do when it is the economy and the resiliency of the American people to bounce back from the economic precipice. Having said that, I wonder why this sudden alarm over debt, the formation of the extreme elements such as the Tea Party etc. And when you ponder and ask what is different now from what the situation was during the years since Regan (which by the way also includes a Democrat Clinton) than what the situation now is, the only thing I can come up with is that we have a African-American president and considering US history on race and slavery, the only logical thing is that it is racially motivated. Not politically as such or else we would have had similar behavior from our Congress folks under Bill Clinton.

So yes, I support that we need to look at the debt. But certainly unlike you I would not even want to associate myself with extremists such as the Tea Party who are also racists IMHO.
