Those entrenched in government have lost sight of important aspects of their jobs. Yes they can keep things running smoother (for now), but the direction you going in, and the destination you arrive at, is more important than the smoothness of the journey.

Indeed. That's why we need a mix of the two. The ones with the new ideas are the ones to carry the ball but only after they've had a chance to test their ideas fully against those more experienced, to learn the ropes, and to develop some maturity.

When I was younger I was a bit of a revolutionary. I thought you needed to burn the village to save it. I grew up. Anyone not voting to raise the debt limit is either frightfully ignorant and/or reckless and/or immature, certainly not qualified for governance.

I welcome the change of direction. But it could end up only a blip in the longer trend line if it's not done right. I wonder if any of these freshmen has ever heard of externalities. Or a Pyrrhic victory.
