Good post Tim and I rec'd it, but I'm going to play the devil's advocate here a little bit. Automation is a two edged sword and while it can increase productivity it can also increase unemployment and though I'm for technology my view is that it is desirable for society to have near full employment. This means to successfully integrate advancements in productivity we have to create new jobs. Not to do this creates an underclass that cannot support itself which leads to socialism which no one here is a fan of. Basically automation is a good thing, but there are limits on how fast we can implement it without creating other problems. * * *
