"from a whole lot of kilometers away, it is unclear that the nature of the game has changed at all, or that the path toward teotwawki is any different."

Agree.

The market certainly was not impressed. Brief rally followed by more of the same.

We shall see.

I think tea party's perceived by most as a radical vanguard, necessary to focus attention on difficult issues most pols would rather deny. Very few would like to see them in charge.

Did you see this overheated, crazy piece from NYT?

nytimes.com

TP as jihadist organization waging war on America?

Good grief.

TP didn't get one half of what it wanted. And showed what an incompetent we have for Prez. And divided the hell out of the left as the bitchin and moanin about O from the Keynesian progressive set is very noisy...and they are experts at bitchin and moaning.

Organizations and countries need a lightning rod, someone they can call "asshole!" and TP is it until new one shows up.

Do not get me wrong, they would be a disaster in power but their radical ideas are getting diluted into more or less good things. The problem is that the Palins and Bachmans are really, really stupid.

Until Medicare gets reformed in a big way, all sound and fury. And no one wants to mess with the immense bloc of voters Medicare beneficiaries represent or the health care lobby representing the hog providers.
