The 30-year-old is being detained under a rare section of the Public Health Act because she has infectious tuberculosis and has repeatedly stopped treatment.

They have similar laws in the States. People with TB who refuse treatment can be detained. Some of the new strains of TB are dangerous and do not respond well to traditional meds.

This is a classic, "typhoid Mary" case. The reason for Public Health. I am glad they have got her locked up.
