Check out SMOD,MRVC,CYMI,ASND,MCAF,DWRX,SUNW,NT,LU,QCOM,QNTM,INTC, etc., they all have forward p/e less than 30. Most of these are fast-growing companies. I still think 3Com will miss the number this quarter due to the slow sale of x2 modem. I tried to do a survey in ASND thread to find out how many posters have bought a 56k modem, not many. All, if you want to save the company, buy an x2!!! Long COMS and worried.

This post is brought to you by the X2 technology.

Glen,

I'm waiting to buy until the technicals give me that signal - right now they are still bearish...on the equivolume chart the heavier volume is on the down moves and both the 100 day-EOM and the 13 vs. 55-VAMA are negative. The 3 vs. 55-VAMA is bullish...the day after the 13-VAMA crosses the 55-VAMA I'll buy.

Christopher

Glen,

I think you may be fooling yourself if you think COMS won't return
to under 30. The Techs have been going crazy the last few days and
COMS has gone along for the ride. As soon as the market calms, the
fear will be back. There was a reason COMS dropped so far so fast
and that reason has been pure speculation so far for us individual
investors. Short term inventory problems? Maybe. What is the real effect of the USRX accounting story? When the big boys have unloaded their positions the rest of us will find out the real news. The way the stock has been acting, I would say an earnings warning is coming.
My only question is how bad. I may be wrong, but until earnings are announced, I think buying this stock is like throwing the dice in vegas.

<<The P/E ratio on forward earnings, even on a reduced basis is around 30-that is unheard of>>

Huh? Consensus May 98 is 2.26. Which suggests a 6mo forward PE of 14.5. I am assuming May 98 is not 2.26 but flat w/97, or 2.05. Which is abt 16x forward. Which is pretty cheap.

Glen,

3C0M will move up significantly only after the earnings and CC, assuming it is positive and not to negative. I am long in the stock and am not too worried about it. It will only trade down into the teens if we get a very bad report, but I do not expect that.

The USRobotics division is the only perceived problem holding them down right now. I love their product mix and things look very good for them next year.

Now is a great buying opportunity if you understand the products and business trends.

Good investing,

Eric
