Black Swan stocks are exactly the extreme stocks, or binary stocks like you call them, when below they have the tendency to go very high, when very high they have the tendency to go low.

You mentioned the example of the company working on a drug, it is not the drug itself that is important, or whatever the company is planning to do, what matters mostly is the fact the company is researching, take Viagra as an example of great discoveries made by accident. What matters is researching ... Here comes the importance of studying how the research facility is managed.

The raw list of Black Swan stocks may need some serious, deep research and filtering to be finally usable.

When I have time I will compile a raw list for your fun of research.
