re: DEC - yeah I know caution is in order, I'm pretty sure they'll find a reason to take it down, given the traditionally low regard it holds on Wall street. I have been able to use it profitably since it first went to 30s, if I hadn't extended myself elsewhere I might still be dabbling in it. Right now I'm stuck in the mud with APM and cymi, not to mention asnd. I was trying puts on DEC just before the universal drop but switched out to IBM when it was able to hold the 46-50 range. DEC has a lot of strength in the computer dolrums lately because of its low valuations and the recently successfull restructure of operations - no longer competing in fab with Intel, fair chance of alpha usage prior to Merced (and equivalent or better performance going forward) with NT 64bit, Clafin getting good press, etc.
Have you worked with DecUnix, lately? Our computer systems guy recently brought up an Ultra and a DEC ws. Being basically VMS/MSFT grounded the sun was a pain but the DEC had a very usable screen interface for installation and a good desktop environment.
It doesn't get much credit, though, maybe you can shed more light on the topic?
