Ha. I remember a couple of small scale similar instances --

a) As a kid, a friend and I stumbled upon a candy machine into which you could deposit a quarter and it would give you a candy bar plus 50c in change. We kept it cleaned out for a good month before they fixed it.

b) More relevant, years ago at an Isle of Capri casino, we found a lone video poker machine that credited $1 worth of points for each quarter played. The machine returned 99.56% due to its pay table; but the points(which should have amounted to 0.5%) actually amounted to 2.0%, resulting in a net return of 101.56%. Of course, positive expectation video poker is nothing new, the 2% was risk-free, and that makes it an attractive game. Even at that, the expected win is in the area of $10-15/hour, which at the time wasn't bad money ;)
