To the extent I'm not calm about the full faith and credit, its not because of the possibility of late payments on transfer programs, or because of the possibility of future debt limit showdowns (or budget / "shut down the government" showdowns like we had with Clinton and Gingrich), its because of the underlying budgetary trends, demographics, and other long term factors that this brinkmanship was an attempt to partially handle. If it takes more brinkmanship to get more serious efforts on handling the problem that brinksmanship will be a net plus even if it is not without cost.
