Skeets -
The rest of the call was actually pretty optimistic. I was very surprised. They don't have a huge Asian exposure (mid-teens) but the effect was still mild. PC looks good, printers look real tough - bloody with Canon and Lexmark. Very straight up management - so I don't know what to make of this. Yes they did miss their number for the 23rd quarter in a row (kidding) but R&D is a good place to be sinking funds.
This is not at all what I expected. AMAT on Thursday - huge Asian component as you know - may not be a blood bath after all.
Know anything about GWRX?

Skeeter, (or Mike or other CEGE folk on the thread)
is this what's known as a "floorless" convertible?
biz.yahoo.com
Also, any evidence that it's Reg. S... that wasn't mentioned
in the press release. But the fact that they intend to file
a registration when the shares are converted, rather than now,
suggests maybe it is.

SB: HWP has been one of my favourite companies for years, but it has also been a stock that has made no earthly sense in terms of valuation for at least a few quarters. I can't comprehend the levitation. The company has really committed to achieving PC dominance, and of course they've moved up the ladder very quickly, but with the whole darned sector turning into a swamp, and with everybody and his grandmother now in the printer business, as the company said, "it sure is hard to make money on these machines". I expected a miss, but also expected the stock price to stumble. Shows how dumb the thinking is at this end.
Best, Earlie
