His record isn't perfect but its no worse than, and likely better than, a lot of the "mainstream" news sources.

In any case about this specific point, your reply is rather silly. If he was getting a government grant to lie as often as possible it wouldn't cause you to reasonable doubt certain statements by him. If he said the Earth was a sphere would you join the Flat Earth Society? The level of the government debt, and the level of the GDP are easily available public information, the point he's making here is true. You could (falsely) argue that its the equivalent of a "broken clock being right twice a day", but even if it was it would still be right. If you want to challenge something based on his supposed lack of credibility, you should wait for a statement that actually might be false, and then include more than just ad-hominem in your response.
