RE: Technical savvy

Allen,

You're welcome about the vote of confidence. You've
earned it, as have many others here. Your name was
just the first one of the bunch that came to mind
as I was writing. Consider it your fifteen minutes
of fame. <g>

We're agreed that technical sweetness isn't the
sole determinant of success or failure. Let's not
all revisit the Sony Beta discussion any more. Still,
I trust the technical sophisticates on the monitoring
of new products more than others in most cases, because
they wander the halls of the corporate buyers, read
the computer magazines, work as resellers, troll around
at Comp USA, and so on, on top of their contributions
to the purely technical analysis of the product. Perhaps
I should have said "savvy PC industry insiders" instead
of categorizing my reference group here as mere
technical sophisticates. Sorry for the confusion,
one and all.

Boy, am I surprised that profit-taking didn't hold down
the price this morning. There's some heavy buying going
on out there.

Cheers, Tom (long IOM)

Zip Connector Question

I got an ISA Jaz Jet SCSI controller and a Zip plus last week, but I haven't been able to connect the Zip to the controller. The Jaz Jet has a 50-pin high-density female connector, and the Zip includes a cable which has a regular 25-pin male connector. I couldn't find the right converter in the local Micro Center, so I ordered a 50-pin to 25-pin converter (in the Iomega section of products) over the net. Unfortunately, the 50-pin side is a larger (low density) connector than what I need. Where can I find a converter for 50HD->25? This seems like such a common, simple thing, yet I can't find one!
