I felt the same way about gold and silver based on what I was seeing in the market today. S & P has downgraded the US. Any idea on the impact of that? If money flows out of bonds, it has to go somewhere.

Doubt it. As Treasuries downgraded from sacrosanct status as "safe haven", that leaves only Gold and (maybe) the US Dollar.
