Yeah, it would be nice to return to the surplus days of a republican congress with balls, 1998-2001.

The 2012 election should give us enough Tea Partyers to return to those glory days.....

So you want to go back to the pre-Bush days? OK Clinton's last budget was for $1.9 trillion of spending. about $2.34tril in 2010 dollars, a bit over $2.5tril when you adjust for the increase in population. Let's make a trade, we can go back to the tax rates then if we also go back to that level of spending.
